Sights in Shangri-La (Zhongdian) & Dechen

Gedan Sumtseling Monastery is 5 km from the seat of Zhongdian County. Construction began in 1679 and was completed in 1681, built under the conduct by the fifth Dalai Lama.

Located in the Naxi people village of Sanba township at the foot of Haba Snow Mountain, alt 2380M, covers 3,000sq meters, about 90km to Zhongdian county seat.

Lies at the northern of Gelthang township, between the Tiger Leaping Gorge town and Sanba village.

Meili Snow Mountain, the highest point of Yunnan, lies the north east of Diqing Prefecture, 184 km away from Zhongdian County.

Lies in Dechen county, on the roadside from the Ganden Sumtsanling up to Dechen, between the Jinshajiang River and the Lancangjiang River with snow-capped peaks over 5000m altitude.
