Xijiang Miao Village
Xijiang Miao Village is a picturesque mass of closely packed traditional dwellings ranged up the side of two adjacent hills, about 40 km southeast of Kaili and 30 km northeast of Leishan.
It is one of the biggest of the Miao villages in Guizhou Province. Miao Minority in Xijiang has a long history dating back to Chiyou tribe in 559 BC. They used drum for communications. The grand wooden Drum Treasure Hall conceals an enormous bronze drum hung above a water buffalo skull. Wandering the narrow, stepped lanes through the village and onto the terraced fields above, where you could hike around for hours, is a great experience, and the views are tremendous.
