Tagong Monastery

Tagong, means the place Buddha likes in Tibetan language. Tagong Monastery with the backdrop of Yala Snow Mountain (5,884m), is one of the impact monasteries in Kham, this 1,000-plus years Sakya sect monastery is worshipped as the ‘small Jokhang Monastery’ by Khampa Tibetans because there is a statue of Sakyamuni that is the same as the one in Jokhang Temple in Lhasa.
