Mt. Kailash
Mt. Kailash is located in Purang County, about 200 km from Sengge Khabab town and 100 km from the Purang town, it is adjoining to India and Nepal having an altitude of 6,656 meters which is the major peak of the Gangdise range. It has 250 glaciers and in abundance of water.
Mt. Kailash is the most famous mountain as well as the source of many large rivers such as the Ganges, the Indus, and the Yarlung Tsangpo. Mt. Kailash is the most famous is in olive shape piercing up to the sky. Its summit looks just like the colored round crown surrounded with octahedral leaves of lotus flower. The body of the mountain seems to be piled up with crystal stones. The Wenbao peak to its east is said to have traced by Sakyamuni. The Tala peak is in the west and the Wisdom Goddess Peak in the south as well as the Dharma Protecting God Peak is in the north. Every year pilgrims from inland of China, India and Nepal come to pay their homage and circumamabulate the holy mountain. Mt. Kailash is the center of Tibetan Buddhism, Hinduism and Bonnism. It is considered a person most auspicious if he could visit the holy mountain in the year of horse in Tibetan calendar.
