Impressed Western Kham Tour

Duration: 7 Nights & 8 Days

Overview

Small loop sights for Ganzi Tibetan Prefecture in West Sichuan

Geographically speaking, Sichuan could be roughly divided into two completely different parts. The east part is fertile Sichuan Basin, while the west is the highland of the part of the Qinghai-Tibet plateau, also the core of the historic Kham regions. You will be instantly aware this difference as soon as you are driving across Mt. Erlang Shan, just a few hours away from Chengdu Plain. Erlang Mountain is located at the edge of Qinghai-Tibet Plateau that is thought to be the watershed of the two parts of Sichuan. The mountain’s east is always evergreen, mist and mizzly, while its west is the huge mountains, treeless grasslands and extremely blue sky. As the altitude is ascending, the scenes turn dramatically to the fierce and steep mountains; however, you will be shortly immersed in the ever-changing sceneries. You will drive up to the snow-capped mountain pass, but also could be down to the narrow valleys; you will traipse in the villages on the terraced hills, but also will stay in Tibetan wooden or stone house; you will visit some worthy and less visited lamaseries, but you may also find the polyandry tradition still practicing here. This trip could be the separately tour as the one of explorations for Sichuan or China, due to its reasonable duration, splendid and featured highlights for Kham, it also could be the warm-up tour before you are travelling to Tibet TAR, which must give you a comprehensive knowledge for Tibetan cultures and people.
