Visit all of Sichuan’s natural and cultural World Heritages

Sichuan has the most World Heritages in China, there are totally five World Heritages listed by UNESCO (actually there are seven, but two of them are incorporated listed). This tour will let you visit all of those world heritages and get insights for those fabulous impressions of Sichuan. You will witness the wonderland and dreamlike sceneries of Jiuzhaigou Nature Reserve; marvel at the colorful terraced limestone ponds of Huanglong National Park; sleep on the Golden summit on the forested Mount Emei and wait for the next morning’s beautiful sunrise; feel Lilliputian at Leshan Giant Buddha as you stand beside the toenails of the world’s largest Buddha statue; climb on Mount Qingcheng for Taoism origin in China; have the vista for the ancient Dujiangyan Irrigation System; get eye to eye for lovely giant pandas in Sichuan’s Giant Panda Sanctuary. Besides those World Heritages, you will be fascinated by the magical Sichuan Opera and Face Changing performances, the ancient Sichuan civilization remains of Jinsha Museum, the historical site Wuhou Temple, the famous Sichuan Hot Pot, the Sichuan folk-style Wide & Narrow alleyways and the bustling Jinli old street. Unlike the regular itinerary, this tour is made with the creative designs and new routes, which takes more reasonable connections from one site with another and won’t take too many back trails to Chengdu on the way.

Detail Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival Chengdu & City Sightseeing (D)

Upon arrive at Chengdu and pick-up service to your hotel. Get refreshment in the hotel, we visit Wuhou Temple, built in the sixth century, is a shrine to commemorate Zhuge Liang (also named Kongming), known for his great wisdom during “Three Kingdoms” period. Free stroll in Jinli ancient street, in this crowding and narrow street, scattered with stalls and lost-in-time teahouses, you will see many interesting traditional crafts made by the local craftsman, and various Chengdu snacks. Dinner will be served as the famous Sichuan Spicy Hot Pot in a decent restaurant. After dinner, enjoy the fantastic Sichuan Opera and Face Changing Show, the ancient Chinese dramatic art.

Day 02: Mt. Emei via Leshan Giant Buddha (B)

Leave Chengdu early of this morning and drive to Mt. Emei. On the route, stop in Leshan and visit Giant Buddha, the world’s largest stone Buddha, overwhelming 71m in height. You can either walk down to the foot of Giant Buddha and then hike up to the summit, or take a short cruise to have a front panorama. When you arrived at the foot of Mt. Emei, take the cable car to the Golden Summit and overnight in the hotel located on the top of the mountain. Enjoy the natures and possibly sunset at the summit. As one of the China’s four most famous Buddhist mountains, Mt. Emei is reputed for the misty and forested mountain, old wooden temples, and even the fierce and rowdy macaques that are always greedy for the tourists’ food on the pathways.

Day 03: Golden Summit Sunrise & Drive to Ya’an (B)

At the daybreak time, depends on weather and chance, encounter Emei’s four spectacles: clouds sea, sunrise, Buddha halo and auspicious light. At an altitude of 3,079 meters of Golden Summit, the highest position offers you the best view point for the scenes. Then take the cable car down to the foot of Mt. Emei and drive to the ‘Raining City’ Ya’an. In 1869, the first giant panda was found here, it is now the world’s largest sanctuary, research and breeding base for the giant pandas.

Day 04: Giant Pandas (B)

Today visit the thickly forested Bifengxia Wildlife Reserve and Giant Panda Sanctuary, currently housing over 90 Giant Pandas and other animals. Morning is the best time to view the lovely pandas, they have their bamboo-eating breakfast, show out many so cute postures and move around, so you have many chances to take good photos. Then we leave for the foot of Mt. Qingcheng at Dujiangyan city that we spend a night there for get knowledge of Taoism cultures and regimens, savoring the Taoism wellness dinner of ‘Longevity Banquet’, and have a try for the traditional Chinese medicine foot massage, acupoints Tuina or the steamed treatment.

Day 05: Mt. Qingcheng & Dujiangyan Irrigation System (B)

Today climb to visit Mt. Qingcheng, has been the Taoist retreat for more than 2,000 years. It is also known for Qingcheng Kungfu. With only 1,600m altitude of the summit, it makes climbing far easier and totally takes around 3-4 hours. The hiking will pass by many old wooden Taoist temples, caves and pavilions, and cheerful lush forests. Later we visit the ancient Dujiangyan Irrigation System, one of the earliest irrigation systems in China and is still in use till now. Return to Chengdu in the late afternoon.

Day 06: Fly to Jiuzhaigou & Huanglong (B)

Take the morning flight to Jiuzhaigou. Arrive at Jiuzhaigou Chuanzhusi Airport and transfer to visit Huanglong National Park, a calcified waterway between mountains shaped like a giant dragon lifting off high into the air. The limestone terraces, karst waterfalls and thousands water ponds in blues, turquoises, yellows and greens are dazzlingly. At the top of the park, you will visit Huanglong Temple and the most exquisite lake of Five-colored Pool (Wucaichi), and a stunning bird’s view of Huanglong. After sightseeing, we will drive ahead to the hotel located at the entrance of Jiuzhaigou Valley.

Day 07: Jiuzhaigou Sightseeing (B)

Full day sightseeing in Jiuzhaigou Valley. You only could be transferred to the entrance of the park and then have to take the public green shuttle bus inside the park due to the environmental protection reason. Jiuzhaigou, means “Nine Village Valleys” because nine Tibetan villages once lived here. No words could describe the breathtaking beauties of Jiuzhaigou, its incredible colored and limpid lakes, crystal clear streams, picturesque waterfalls and verdant forests backed by snowy mountains.

Day 08: Fly back to Chengdu & City Tour (B)

Morning transfer to the airport and take the flight return to Chengdu. When you arrive at Chengdu, our guide will pick you up there and then transfer to the hotel located in downtown. In the afternoon, we visit Jinsha Relic Museum, learn about the civilizations and cultures of the ancient Shu Kingdom existed 3,000 years ago. Later, step in the Wide and Narrow alleys (Kuan Zhai Xiangzi), two ancient streets preserved from the old architectures in Ming and Qing dynasties in Chengdu.

Day 09: Chengdu Departure (B)

Transfer to the airport or the train station according to the schedule.
