Loving birds and adoring birds is the mutual nature of human-beings. In the years of remote antiquity, Egyptians, Persians, Achaeans all had their own cultural history of adoring birds. But along with the changes of history, another adoring culture spung up, and the culture of birds was vanished in these areas, only Chinese birds culture have gone down to now. We can say the culture of birds in China has a long standing history. In the endless historical river, the culture of adoring birds is showed by worship of phoenix, a divine bird which not existed in fact. Nothing could compare with the phoenixes worship as the core of Chinese birds’ culture, no matter in the names of people, place, substance or Dexedrine, in the figure and texture of wares, architecture; or in the language, literature, national custom and festival, phenix lives in everywhere. China is rich in birds’ recourse, this might be the reason Chinese people put the all beauties from species of birds together, and then create phoenixes as a divine bird. China has vast territory and abundant resources, which allow the kinds of birds inhabit vary from different areas with different climate and geographic conditions. Due to the unspoiled natural environment in west China, including Sichuan, Yunnan, Guizhou, Tibet, especially in the Qinghai – Tibet Plateau, the life of birds are not disturbed. This region is still beyond the civilization, where would be your best place to appreciate wild and rare birds.

According to our years experiences for organizing birding tours since 1988, we found June and July is the best time to watch birds in the western China. During this time, plants grow and insects reproduce, which can be the sufficient food resource to birds. The probability of watching birds would be much higher than other time in this duration, which is generally about 60% to 80%. Therefore, according to the different birds’ inhabit environment, we adjust our traditional itinerary, but assemble a program including appreciation birds in alps and plains, swamps and lakes as well as grasslands and forests, which also contains valuable nature beauties, folk custom and religion culture along the way.

Plateau in west China is the area have the most abundant and the most integrated apls birds for its kind. The most well-known birds are:

• the Gorgeous Pheasant (Chrysolophus Pictus) which is called Bird of China
• the Black-necked Crane (Crus Nigricoliis) which is the particularly rare and precious bird in Qinghai – Tibet Plateau
