Overview
Villages are dispersed among the masonry setting against a magnificent mountain panorama
Wriggling haphazardly amongst the raw scenery of the bastion snaking into the distance over undulating hills is the Great Wall, China’s celebrated sight and one of the Seven Wonders of the World. It’s the China’s greatest engineering triumph, as well as traces for fragments of China’s long history. The most renowned and robust remains meander majestically along a mountain ridge of Beijing, built upon an earlier Northern Qi-dynasty conception, is famed for its Ming-dynasty watchtowers and stirring views, scattered for several sections, either chiselled or dilapidated.
Hiking the Great Wall is an incomparable experience to feet on the awe-inspiring edifice existing in chunks. Our Great Wall trekking is an explorative one that avoids the crowds but plunges yourself into the authentic and less-touristy sections of the wall. The breathtaking hikes get off the beaten paths, through some stunning mountainous terrain, overgrown with trees and orchards. Some trails are steep with a few scrambling ascents on the rugged but unrestored walls, parts of the wall have collapsed and some of the watchtowers have been stripped of their bricks. Villages are dispersed among the masonry setting against a magnificent mountain panorama. All these can make the sense of discovering the real Great Wall.
