Shuhe town, 4km northwest from Lijiang County. It is an ancient trade post for tea caravans between China and the Red Sea, is set to regain its past prosperity with the launch of a new protection program.
The First Bend of the Yangtze River
About 70 kilometers from Lijiang town, the vista of the First Bend of the Yangtze River can be viewed at the tiny town named Shigu.
As one of the deepest canyon in the world, the gorge is around 18km in length and 30m for the narrowest width, drops the steep 3900m cliffs from water of the Yangtze River passes between 5,596m Jade Dragon Snow Mountain to the west and 5,396m Haba Snow Mountain to the east. Legend says that in order to escape from a hunter, a tiger jumped across the river at the narrowest point, hence the name.
The Jade Dragon Snow Mountain is situated about 15 km north of Lijiang County, on the east side of Jinshajiang River and the southern section of the Hengduan Mountain ranges.
Covers an area of 3.8 square kilometer at an elevation of 2,400 meters, the ancient town of Lijiang was built in the middle of a flatland at the foot of the Yulong Snow Mountain, is one of the four most famous and well-preserved old towns in China.
Jingzhen octagonal pagoda is located in Jingzhen village, Mengzhe, Menghai county, around 80km away from Jinghong city. Built in 1701, the pagoda is an architectural artwork of the Dai people.
Menglun Tropical Botanical Garden
Located in Menglun town of Menglai county around 80km away from Jinghong city, Menglun tropical botanical garden is the largest tropical botanical garden in China.
The private Garden of the Zhu Family lies in Jianxin Street, Jianshui County and has a total area of 20,000 square meters and a floor space of 5,000 square meters.
Jianshui Confucian Temple
Jianshui Confucian Temple is located in the western of Jianshui County. It is the biggest temple in Yunnan Province, and also the second largest one nest to the Qufu Confucius temple in Shandong Province.
Many ethnic groups live in the Ailao mountains in Honghe Prefecture in Yunnan province. The Hani and Yi ethnic groups live on the mountain sides.
